Everything that is going to be taken
out is now about gone.  Some clean
up and leveling needs to be done to prepare for the new construction.
The decision is made for the exact layout of the new barn
Holes  for the support poles are dug out by auger and shovel
A few plants remain in the front
corner of the new children's area.  Once the barn is up, new landscapings will be installed.
The support poles look like a petrified forest.  The poles are concreted in.  Some of the trees needed to be cut back to provide enough room for the roof structure.
A new sign has been placed at the future entrance to the petting zoo to help let people know what is going on.  Many people come to the park to visit the petting zoo, only to find that it is gone.  They feel much better once they are told that soon, and new improved animal encounter area is coming.
The weather cleared up in time for
the roof trusses to go up.  The trusses were built on site, and it is getting easier to picture what the structure
will look like.
With the rafters and purlins in place,
we are ready to have the
metal roofing put on.
Working from the lower end to the top, the metal roofing is put in place.  Transluscent panel are being put in to act a skylights.
Looking towards the new petting zoo structure, we can see how well the roofline matches the restaurant.  This photo was taken from the bridge in the lower village.
The two lower sections now have roofing on, and the gable ends are covered.  Another day or two, and it will be time to begin building the animal areas and the landscaping under the roof.
The roof is finished and the next
step will include the laying out of the animal pens , installing the water system and electrical service.
