THE GUANACO
(Lama glama guanicoe)
The quanaco inhabits the desert grasslands, savannas,
shrublands and forests of South America. They eat grasses from mountain
slopes. This is a member of the camel family, believed to be the
wild ancestor of the domesticated Llama. They are found up to altitudes
of 13,900 feet.
