The Oregon Natural
Resources Research Institute was established at Wildlife Safari in Winston,
Oregon in January 2001. We are a nonprofit organization serving as a region-wide
liaison between the universities, community colleges, K-12 schools and
the business community in the areas of mathematics and science education
through natural resources study.
The goals of the
Institute are:

Improve students'
understanding of mathematics and science by:

increasing the enthusiasm
of students taking math and science classes

providing special hands-on
programs directly for area students

providing professional
development opportunities for teachers

Facilitate math and
science education partnerships

Improve the understanding
of natural resource systems

prepare high schools
students for careers in Natural Resources and for entry into higher education
studies.

Strengthen K-14 teaching
practices in mathematics and science by:

providing area teachers

current math and science resources

working closely with
other inservice providers in the region
