THE SIAMANG APE
(Hylobates syndactylus)
The Siamang inhabits tropical rain forests of Malay Peninsula
and Sumatra, where they eat leaves and insects. They resemble the
White Handed Gibbon except larger and with no white markings. They
have an inflatable throat sac that ammplifies their calls. Siamangs
are the largest of the gibbon species.
