THE TIBETAN YAK
(Box mutus)

The yak inhabits alpine tundra and ice deserts of the Tibetan Plateau.  They are adapted to high altitudes, where they eat sparse herbs, swamp grass and lichens.  They make good beasts of burden in mountainous regions.
